Voice and Piano Instruction
Accompanist

Judy BoyterJudy Boyter teaches private voice and piano students in her home and has taught in the Klein and Tomball School Districts private lesson programs.  Her students have earned music awards and scholarships including first divisions at UIL Solo Contests, membership in the Texas Music Educator’s Association All-State Choirs and Region Choirs, and major roles in opera and musical theatre productions. Her students have gone on to major universities and music schools to study vocal performance and music education resulting in professional careers as performers and teachers.

After twenty-five years, Judy retired from teaching private and public school choral music at the junior high and high school levels. As a church musician she served as choral director at area churches including Cypress Creek Christian Church in Spring, Christ United Methodist Church in The Woodlands, and St. John Lutheran Church in Cypress. She presently is employed at 9th Church Christian Scientist as the paid soloist.

Judy has sung as a soloist and chorus member with numerous performing organizations in Texas, including the Houston Chamber Choir with Robert Simpson, Houston Symphony Chorus and University of Houston Chorale, with Charles Hausmann, Fort-Worth Symphony with John Giordano, the late Bev Henson Chorale, Clear Lake Symphony with Dr. Charles Johnson, Galveston Symphony with Richard Pickar, and area community chorale organizations and churches. While in California, she sang roles and was chorus director with the San Bernardino Civic Light Opera including My Fair Lady, No, No Nanette, and Promises, Promises.  At the Redland’s Bowl summer musical she sang Maria in Sound of Music.  After moving to the Houston area, she sang mostly oratorio repertoire with area symphonies and choruses.

As a piano accompanist, Mrs. Boyter has played for Houston area musicals, community symphony performances including Symphony North of Houston with Dr. Reynaldo Ochoa, high school solo contests, junior high and high school region choirs, high school choir TMEA performances, church services, weddings, and receptions.  She is currently accompanist for Klein High School Choirs and Montgomery High School Choirs. 

Judy has a Bachelor of Music Education in Voice from Texas Tech University.  She has done postgraduate work at Sam Houston State University and at University of Houston.  She studied with Marta Pender, Gene Kenney, Bev Henson, Charles Hausmann, and Elena Nikolaidi.
